As a stay-at-home mom, I've picked up the one habit I thought I'd never fall to...Oprah. Today's Oprah topic- the sisterhood of motherhood.
Biggest problem for mom's...overblown expectations(surprise, surprise)! Guilty as charged. One would think that I never sleep because the baby keeps me up, but really I am laying in bed obsessing about all the housework that needs to get done but I don't think its fair to the rest of the family to vacuum at 4am. Every week I reaffirm my commitment to getting back on the "fly lady bandwagon"(check out flylady.com-its awesome even though I suck at it). My husband is really supportive to this housekeeping program, but unknowingly is the source of my frequent tumbles from the fly lady wagon. I've realized that I will spend the rest of my life picking up after him-pants on the floor, glasses and soda cans in the living room, dirty dishes and cheese wrapper on the counter, etc. And dinner, UGH! Eric has arrived home to find me standing at the counter mixing a casserole with my shirt pulled up around my chest while Peyton laid on her side on the counter nursing. I feel obligated to have dinner on the table or atleast started by the time Eric gets home, however, as this is the crabbiest time of the day for my baby and most babies this is an unrealistic expectation. However, I am refusing to renege on this expectation which undoubtedly leads to my feelings of inadequacy and failure.
Maybe, I should turn off Oprah and get dinner started. Oh wait, baby is awake, screaming, and has nasty pooey diaper. Welcome home!

Walmart
Once upon a time I religously boycotted Walmart. However, I moved to a city that does not have a local Target and convenience won out. Last week, I decided to run to Walmart because I didn't want to have to run to the grocery store for two things, reload baby into van in freezing temperatures, unload baby into cold at Shopko for two things, and reload baby into van again. Damn the convenience of Super Walmart! Parking at Walmart, I parked next to two minivans the same color and model as mine. I realized I have turned into one of those moms who fuel the fire. I feel like I was stabbing all the small business owners of America in the heart!
Eric's response, jokingly: The small business owners can always get a job at Walmart.

Relapse
I have once again lapsed on blogging. As a new mom, I find it very hard to sit down at the computer for any length of time. The dishes and the stack of bills just a stone's throw from the computer beckon to me. Now, I realized that I can kick back at the end of the day, watch the news, blog from my Blackberry all from the comfort of my bed. I can't believe it took me more than six months to figure this out!

The Energy Crisis
Yesterday, somehow I learned that KY gel is sold in 55 gallon barrels through medical suppliers.
My thought was...
Which cost more a barrel of KY gel or a barrel of oil?
Perhaps ethanol is the wrong solution-maybe we should be looking into KY gel powered cars. Just a thought.

Baby and Puppies Update
I'm now over well over halfway through pregnancy-Yay! We went for our ultrasound a few weeks ago, which is totally cool. Though how they are able to see the baby's inner organs(kidneys, liver, stomach) and screen for problems, I don't know but they do. I was able to recognize major things like the heart, spine and brain-very cool! We got a 3d picture of the face, which totally looks like a little person unlike the black and white 2d alien pictures. Our baby got a clean bill of health-Yay! We also found out its a girl-Peyton Atari!
Our focus was shortly thereafter diverted to puppies. Miss Piggy's puppies arrived two weeks ago-six of them! There are two boys and four girls-however, most of them are black like Kermit. I think that three of them will be long-haired dachshunds, though neither Kermit or Miss Piggy are. They are so cute, especially, now that their eyes have opened and they are starting to move around in their little kiddie pool. Even with as cute as they are I can't wait to find homes for them, and Kermit is getting fixed despite his apparently good genes.

Baby and Puppies
So I've kinda let my blogging lapse...life happens. I'm just starting to get to the point in pregnancy were I'm feeling a little bit better. I would still say overall though that pregnancy sucks! However, now that I'm feeling better and getting my life back our sweet little Miss Piggy is expecting PUPPIES! Yikes! Eric is really excited but I think he's a little nuts. I feel for Miss Piggy-I don't enjoy carrying one child let alone six or more. So more news to come in the following weeks on baby and puppies.

The ManMan Van

So I must sadly write that our Saturn may be terminally ill. We seem to have a head gasket issue that will cost us more than the value of the car to fix. So Eric bought me a van! Thank you Holiday Dodge Chrsyler Jeep, you guys are wonderful! Its a 2004 Chrysler Town & Country in Inferno Red. The picture doesn't do it justice. Its definetely a hot mama van!
